Opening Day of the 2026–2027 Academic Year at MUISE

The Master’s Degree in Electronic Systems Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid begins the new academic year this Monday, September 7.

We are kicking off the new academic year with a welcome event in the auditorium of Building C at the ETSI Telecommunications.

At the event, the director of the ETSI Telecommunications, Mr. Manuel Sierra Castañer, and the academic coordinator of the master’s program, Mr. Pedro Malagón Marzo, will welcome the new students and introduce the School and the master’s program.

Following this welcome, we are pleased to have Antonio Fernández Villamor, an alumnus of ETSI Telecommunications, who will speak to us about cybersecurity in Smart Cities. Since 2015, he has been working as an ICT engineer for both the ministry and the city government, focusing on data networks and cybersecurity. Since 2025, he has headed the SmartCity cybersecurity department at the Madrid City Council, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities and risks involved in the city’s digital transformation. We are confident that we will learn from his experience—both technical and managerial—and his perspective on the current and future landscape of smart city development and the Internet of Things.
