| March- December 1974 | First members of a long series join the future DIEL: A. Garcia Guerra, J. L. Galán Marín, F. Sandoval, S. Serrano, C. Martinez, C. Lopez Barrio, ... |
| 1977 | It is created the Chair of "Digital Systems" by transforming the former one of "Electrometry". A. García Guerra is initially appointed as Acting Professor and later (1/24/81) C. Lopez Barrio |
| 31/10/86 | E. Muñoz Merino and C. López Barrio cease as Head of Department ("Electrónica II-III" and "Sistemas Digitales" respectively) |
| 1/11/86 | It is created the Department of Electronics Engineering (DIEL) as a merger of the two above mentioned. It is elected Prof. Muñoz Merino as Head of Department. |
